Evolution From Phylum Porifera to Phylum Chordata
Kingdom Animalia has vast evolutionary changes from the simple Phylum Porifera to the most complex Phylum Chordata. Starting from Porifera I will explain the evolutionary advancements until I reach Phylum Chordata.
Phylum Porifera is the simplest Phyla in Kingdom Animalia. These animals are multicellular but these cells instead of working together work independently meaning that they all carry out different tasks in the organism so therefore the organism has no tissue. Since they are basic body structure is so simple these animals have no other option but to be filter feeders. Furthermore, sponges are all asymmetrical meaning that they have no body symmetry. Next is Phylum Cnidaria, these animals have evolved into true multicellularity. They have a gastrovascular cavity for digestion, two body layers, a nerve net, tentacles. Moreover, these organisms are now motile. These evolutionary adaptation make Cnidarians able to be predators which is a big step from Phylum Porifera, the filter feeders.

The Best Adapted Organism To Life On Earth
The best adapted organism on Earth is the jellyfish. These simple organisms have been living on this Earth for more than 500 million years. Surpassing the time we and most of the rest of the animals on Earth have been alive. Jellyfish are very complex yet extraordinarily simple beings. They have no brain, no heart, a simple nerve net for a nervous system, a cavity for digestion and no eyes. Yet how have they survived for so long? Simple answer: Venom. Jellyfishes greatest and most effective weapon is their stingers. Each tentacle is lined up with more than 5000 capsules (stinging cells). These capsules are called nematocysts. When the jellyfish makes contact with an organism the nematocysts open and shoot out barbs that expand with harpoons directly into the bloodstream of the prey where they release their venom. The lethality of the venom depends on the jellyfish. The most venomous jellyfish known to man is the box jellyfish. This remarkable creature's venom contains toxins that attack the heart, nervous system, and skin cells. When a human is stung by this jelly, they most likely go into shock and drown or die of heart failure before they can get back to shore.Jellyfish have adapted to live on all seas on Earth and prey on almost everything in the sea. They are highly adaptable creatures. Jellyfish are living proof that simple is better.
Is My Portfolio A Sound Piece Of Evidence For Evolution?
I think my Portfolio is not a sound piece of evidence for evolution. While my opinions shown on this portfolio may be based on fact my opinions are only that , opinions. While I may not think I am, some of my points might be greatly biased based on my peers, teacher and textbook from which I have learned all my material. Thought the main reason is that as a highschool student I really am only taught a one sided point of view. If my teacher believes in certain scientific theories he/she will teach it to us (the students) as a fact rather than a theory that hasn't been truly proven yet. This is the same for ideas, they are taught to us like facts. We are only exposed to half the story which makes it hard for our work to be 100% accurate since in reality we only have half the story. There are more facts and maybe more solid pieces of evidence to prove or not prove the topics that I have discussed in this portfolio. So in the end I do not believe it is a sound piece of evidence but i do believe it is part of the way to being one.
